In anglophone parts of Africa, this animal is known as the "softly-softly," a reference to its habit of moving very cautiously and slowly through the treetops in search of fruit and occasional insects.

FALKLAND IS.


27p Southern Elephant Seal: this seal is the most massive pinniped in existence. A record bull was shot in S. Georgia in 1913 and weighed 11,000 lbs. The main feeding and breeding area for this species is at the edge of Antarctica. Once decimated by 19th century hunters, this species' population had recovered significantly by 1950.
